Johnson Generation No. 1 1. WILLIAM J. JOHNSON He married MARY EVELINE TOWNSEND January 25, 1869, daughter of SEYMORE TOWNSEND and SALLY MITCHELL. She was born September 24, 1840 in Indiana, and died October 16, 1901 in Arkansas. More About MARY EVELINE TOWNSEND: Burial: Arkansas Marriage Notes for WILLIAM JOHNSON and MARY TOWNSEND: Rev. Wesley Hartley officiated. Children of WILLIAM JOHNSON and MARY TOWNSEND are: i. GEORGE JOHNSON, m. BELL. ii. HATTIE JOHNSON. iii. DAISY JOHNSON. "I know that William J. and Mary Johnson left Indiana and moved to Arkansas as I have documentation placing them there in the 1890's and Mary died there in 1901. I believe the children returned to Indiana and lived in the Indianapolis area after the death of Mary. I do not know if William returned to Indiana with them. I recall my father visiting "Aunt Bell" in Morgantown, Indiana in the mid 1950's."
