      Jay E. Frank:
On an LDS film of Reichelsheim which includes a document entitled "Geburts=Protocoll," it is written that Johann Nicolaus was illegitimate (unehelich), and because of that, the FATHER of Johann Nicolaus Frank is listed as Johann Adam NAGEL who actually is the father of Eva Catharina NAGEL and would actually be the grandfather of Johann Nicolaus Frank. [Jay E. Frank concluded in later research of 12 2005 that Johann Nicolaus Frank's mother Eva Catharina NAGEL's probable filing of intent to marry Johann Nicolaus Frank's father Johann Georg FRANK (b: 9 DEC 1784 in Ober Ostern, Hesse Darmstadt) was made on 30 JUN 1818, but that no marriage took place.]

The last name of the godfather is Hoder (with umlaut over the "o"). The record states that Johann Nicolaus NAGEL [Frank] was born on the 30 Mar 1812 and was baptized on 1 Apr 1812. [Donna Forney Clark: Some sentences were omitted or combined from the original information.]

"History of the Frank Family," a brief family document, compiled by Grayce Stambaugh:

"The family of Nickloes Frank lived in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, during the years of 1830-1840. Mrs Frank's Father was (?) Rader [ROEDER]. They owned a great deal of land which was very valuable.
Nickloes Frank (surnames unknown) had five children born to them -- Margaret, Peter, Adam, Eva Catherine and Elizabeth. They owned and operated a Hotel or Inn in Hesse Darmstadt.
Early in life death took the father and the mother remarried. In order to avoid conscription of her sons into the German Army, the family came to America. That would have been about 1851. Margaret was 16 years old, Peter was 14 years old, Adam 11 years, Eva Catherine about 8 years and Elizabeth about 6 years old. They also brought two neighbor boys with them. The voyage in a sailboat took six weeks.
From New York they went to Pennsylvania and took up residence at Chambersburg. Not many years afterward the mother died leaving the five children with their step-father. The mother is buried in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Chambersburg. A short time later the stepfather remarried and to them a son was born -- Henry Keil. In due course the Keils decided to move to Iowa. They wanted to take the youngest, Elizabeth, with them but the sisters and brothers would not hear to it and managed to keep all five together in Chambersburg. [Sentence omitted.]"

"The Civil War came along and Adam enlisted. Eva Catherine stayed with a family by the name of Frondoe who were very good to her. She attended the Lutheran Church. It was there that she met her future husband, Wilhelm F. Schmidt. He also served in the Union Army. They were married on a Sunday evening at the parsonage of the First Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rhodes, Pastor. They went to housekeeping in Chambersburg and in 1875 moved to Indiana. Here they built a home and reared their famly.
Adam Frank enlisted on February 5, 1864 and was mustered in at Pottsville, Pa. He served under Captain Frank D. Wetherill's Company F. 3rd Regiment Pa. Vol. Cavalry under the command of Col. J. B. Mcintosh. Comrade Frank shared in the battles of the Wilderness May 5, 1864 - Cold Harbor June 12, 1864, - Boydton Plank Road October 8, 1864 - Thatchers Run October 22 to 28thm 1864.
Taken sick and being unfit for service Adam was Honorably Discharged December 10, 1864 at Petersburg, Va. by reason of Surgeon Certificate of Disability.
After his return, he married Rachel Kell of Roxbury, Pa. Through this union 11 children were born -- James K., Robert L., Maretta B., Ida V., William N., Charles G., the twins - Mary S. and Sadie C., Florence G., Nellie Grace and one daughter Annie Elizabeth who died at the age of 14.
Adam Frank was born April 2, 1840 and died July 20, 1924.
Rachel V. (Kell) Frank was born January 27, 1845 and died March 14, 1901."

      Remarks of Ditmar Frank 15.Oct. 2012, Trebur,Gross-Gerau,Hessen,Germany.
      1. Anna Elisabetha had not married with her maiden name Röder but with her former married surname Frank.
      2. Also, it's now clear that the emigration date of the Frank children, together with their mother and stepfather Johannes Keil, was after the marriage date 26 June 1853.
