Obituary:
Gladys Disert
Born: August 25, 1940
Death: May 11, 2011
Gladys Disert, 70, passed from this life on May 11, 2011, surrounded by those who loved her most.Gladys was born August 25, 1940 in LaVeta, CO, the third daughter of George and Lillian Duzenach. The salutatorian of her graduating class of 1958, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Michael Disert, on September 13 of that year in LaVeta.Gladys and Mike spent the first year of their marriage ranching in Wyoming, and then returned to Huerfano County, CO to raise their family. In 1973 they relocated to Mimbres, where they ranched until their retirement a few years ago.During her time in the Mimbres Valley, Gladys was active in the Booster Club, the Extension Club, Farm Bureau and the Lower Mimbres Volunteer Fire Department. She was also very involved in 4-H activities with her children. Her passions were her family, her flower gardens and her books. She was skilled in needlework and her baking, especially her homemade bread, was legendary. While her laugh and the things she did for everyone to let them know they were loved will be greatly missed, she will live on in the hearts and souls of those who adored her. She was a wife, mother and grandmother beyond compare, and she taught us much with her quiet strength and fierce devotion.
Survivors omitted.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and infant daughter, Jean Lynn.
At her request, no services will be held.
