      I transcribed Jacob Kelly's will from the original (Donna Forney Clark: a version appears below this reference), and I have a couple of differences. I read the daughter’s name as Pressilla rather than Tressilla, and one of the witnesses, M.P. Wyatt was omitted in your copy. Matthew P. Wyatt was the brother of Margaret Wyatt/ Wiatt who married Thornton Kelly.

      Last Will and Testament of Jacob Kelly
      I Jacob Kelly of the County of Kanawha and the state of Virginia being weak in body but sound mind and memory knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do hereby make and ordain this my last will and testament as (...) such worldly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, first I desire that all my just debts be paid, secondly I give and bequeath to my eight children to wit, Reuben Kelly, Thornton Kelly, James Kelly, Nancy Johnson wife of Israel Johnson, Polly Light wife of Enoch Light, Elizabeth Huddleston wife of John Huddleston, William Kelly, and Peggy Johnson wife of Jonathan Johnson One dollar each to be paid out of my personal estate and no more, Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jemima Kelly all the remainder of my estate both real and personal for her support and the support of my infant children during her widowhood but if she doth marry in such case I give and bequeath her one third of my estate both real and personal her life. The balance of my estate I wish to be divided between my present infant children so soon as they become of age. The land that belongs to their part to be rented out until the youngest becomes of age the proceeds there of to be applied to schooling them and their support. At the death of my beloved wife Jemima I wish the residue of my estate both real and personal equally divided between the aforesaid infant children to wit, Susannah Kelly, Sally Kelly, Jacob Kelly, John Kelly, Tressella Kelly, Jeremiah Kelly and further I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Jemima Kelly my executrix to execute this my last will and testament and do hereby revoke all other wills legacies bequests and executors by me made in any will before named will or bequeaths ratifying and confirming this and no other to my last will and testament.
      In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of July in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred twenty seven.
