Doris M. Barton
Doris M. (Nickles) Barton, 86, of Monticello, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at IU Arnett Hospital in Monticello. Born February 13, 1927 in South Bend, she was the daughter of the late Ermal and Edna (Ford) Nickles. She was a 1945 graduate of Royal Center High School.
Doris married Paul Harold Barton and he preceded her in death on October 25, 1975. She was a manager in the word processing department at Lafayette Life for 25 years, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo and games on the computer, and watching the Chicago Cubs. She was the last charter member of Lafayette Eagles Auxiliary and held office from beginning to June of 2013.
(SURVIVORS OMITTED) She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Lyons, and a grandson, Jared Barton.
Visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Hippensteel Funeral Home with Eagles service at 4 p.m. followed by the funeral service. Rev. Chris Dodson officiating. Burial of ashes at a later date at Riverview Cemetery in Monticello. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association . Hippensteel Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
