SOME EARLY ROBBINS GENERATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES:
July 5, 2005: "The information in this posting has been excerpted from the ROBBINS JOURNAL, Vol. I, No. 1, July 1989, pp. 1 - 5. The Journal was edited by Kevin K. Mittge, a Robbins family historian, archivist, librarian, and published genealogist. The Journal is now defunct."

Donna Forney Clark: At this point, I have included only part of the previous posting of this excerpted article.

Within this article
"Introduction To The Robbins Family History, by Kevin K. Mittge.

Kevin K. Mittge writes:

“I am grateful for information provided by Marvin Robbins, Ocala, FL; Mary Kate Horner, Lebanon, IN; and Margaret Davis, Yakima, WA; and many others who have worked and are still working on this topic.”

Kevin writes that the following information has been suggested.

(There are several paragraphs between Kevin’s acknowledgments and the following information.)

Jacob Robbins (I) was born about 1738 and it is suggested he died about 1830 in Jennings Co., Indiana. He married to Mary, who was possibly of the Wells family. Jacob and Mary are believed to be the parents of William, Absalom, Jacob (II), James, Mary, Martha (called Massey), and Margaret.

Absalom Robbins, the second son of Jacob and Mary, was married to Mary Ogle shortly after arriving in Virginia.

Descendants of John F. Toney
Generation No. 5
FEBRUARY 15, 2008
79. LONNIE DAVIS5 COOPER (HOWARD4, BLACKBURN EDWARD3, JULIA2 TONEY, JOHN F.1) was born September 09, 1904 in Winifrede, West Virginia, and died March 30, 1986 in Charleston, West Virginia. He married DELLA FIELDS, daughter of AMSTER FIELDS and EFFIE LANHAM. She was born January 14, 1908 in Romance, Jackson County, West Virginia, and died January 19, 1997 in Charleston, West Virginia.
Notes for LONNIE DAVIS COOPER:
My father was a soft-spoken man but he let you know that he was the boss.
He was a Coal-Miner and often, you would hear his children say 'I am proud to have that Coal Miner as my father'.
My husband 'Eddie' would say, 'If Lonnie Cooper can't do it, then it can't be done'.
Dad had the ability to fix/repair/build just about anything.
More About LONNIE DAVIS COOPER:
Burial: Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, Boone County, West Virginia
Notes for DELLA FIELDS:
When my Grandparents divorced, mom, her siblings and mother came to Boone County, WV and lived with my Great Grandmother Narissa Adaline (Jones) Lanham. Mom married my dad when she was only 16 and they met when she was berry-picking near to White Oak and Dad came riding up on a horse.
Mom had no formal education because survival and not schooling was more important. Mom and her siblings milked cows to help supply food as they were paid with flour, sugar, etc. Her lack of education was never a detriment as she could read her Bible and had qualities on how to love and make meals fit for a King. Her home-canned vegetables from dad's garden were un-equaled. Her kitchen was always open and we always wondered if we would have enough food 'but' it seemed the more who came to eat, the more bountiful the supply. Mom was blessed with so much love and not just for her family but for anyone in need of 'special love' and that always included Cecil, Willie and Aunt Reany. She made our house a home and was loved and respected in the community. She was an absolute Christian and she often attended our small church in Coopertown 'alone' and she would tell us that she would pray and sing before returning home.
GOD WAS 'ALWAYS' IMPORTANT TO MOM AND FOR HER FAMILY
More About DELLA FIELDS:

Johanes Henrich (John Henry) Aue/Aü (b. abt. 1745- d. 1821)
Christine Barbara Lutz (b. abt. 1754- d. 1818)]
Maria Margaret Au (b.1784), daughter of Johanes and Christine Lutz Aue/Aü
Samuel Baughman, husband of Maria Margaret Au
Margaret Au
Samuel Disert (b. abt. 1780)
Samuel Disert (b. 1810)

THE SETTING:
Cumberland Co., PA, and Franklin Co., PA, (abt. 1780-1810)

THE SET-UP:
1. Originally in our database I listed Maria Margaret Au (b.1784) as the wife of Samuel Disert (b. abt. 1780).

THE CRISIS:
2. Maria Margaret Au (b.1784) was married instead to Samuel Baughman.

THE EPHIPHANY:
3. Samuel Disert's wife was also named Margaret Au. Their son Samuel Disert (b. 1810) was born in Cumberland Co., PA, the same county where Johanes Henrich (John Henry) Aue/Aü and Christine Barbara Lutz lived, yet I have no proof that Maria Margaret Au Baughman and Margaret Au Disert are the same person.

THE REMEDY AND RESOLUTION:
4. The Descendancy of Johanes Henrich (John Henry) Aue/Aü and Christine Barbara Lutz is still in our database, but now it is free-floating, unattached from our line until I can find the connection with our Margaret Au.

In Reply to: VALENTINE ROBBINS IN WASHINGTON CO, IN. by Marie Bayles of 3206
The parents of Valentine Robbins (1813-1849) were reportedly Richard Robbins (c1790-betw. 1850-58) and Rebecca ("Betsy") Chastain (c1794-c1871). Richard, in turn, was the son of Richard and Catherine Robbins, and Richard (Sr.) is said to be the son of Nathaniel and Ann Robbins. Little is documented so far. Nathaniel was born c1740, prob. in Monmouthshire, Wales and died c1800, prob. in Shelby Co., Kentucky. He came as a child with his family to the Rowan/Guilford/Randolph Co., North Carolina area; moved to the Franklin & Montgomery Co., Virginia area, and then on to Shelby Co., Kentucky. Other Robbins lived in Henry Co., Kentucky; many went on to Decatur, Jennings, Scott, and Washington counties, Indiana. Nathaniel, by the way, was a brother of Jacob Robbins, who married Mary (said to be Wells, but, again, unproven).

Children of Valentine Chastain and Mary Robbins are:
+ 54 i. Rebecca7 Chastain, born Abt. 1794 in Franklin County, Virginia; died Bet. 1870 - 1871 in Scott County, Indiana, USA.
55 ii. Martin Chastain, born Abt. 1795 in Franklin Co., Virginia, USA; died September 17, 1845 in Scott Co., Indiana.
56 iii. Frances ? Chastain, born Abt. 1796.
Frances is marked as dead in Church Book ending January 1845.
57 iv. Harmon Chastain, born Abt. 1798 in Franklin County, Virginia; died Abt. 1877 in Scott County, Indiana.
58 v. Daughter Chastain, born Bet. 1800 - 1805.
Probably born circa 1800 to 1805. Tradition in Scott County says that Valentine Chastain had a daughter named Sarah Jane. This is probably Sary Shasteen who died in 1847 and is buried at Scaffold Lick, near the road in what seems to be a grave for for a fully grown person.
59 vi. Elizabeth Chastain, born Abt. 1801 in Virginia; died November 20, 1878 in Scott County, Indiana, USA. She married Nathaniel Robbins November 19, 1826; died 1874. He was Church Clerk at Scaffold Lick from July 1830 to March 1847.
60 vii. Mary Chastain, born Abt. 1806 in Kentucky, USA; died Abt. 1838 in Scott County, Indiana, USA. She married Nathaniel Chastain March 16, 1825.
Valentine Chastain performed the marriage between Mary and Nathaniel.. Nathaniel Chastain was probably a son of John and Anner Chastain despite being being listed as an heir of Valentine in 1847. This is based partly on the fact that Anner Chastain was living with Nathaniel in 1850. He is probably named as an heir of Valentine for the estate rights of his children by Mary.
+ 61 viii. Valentine Jr. Chastain, born April 03, 1808 in Shelby County, Kentucky; died Abt. 1866 in Scott County, Indiana, USA.

Current thought is that Monmouth County, New Jersey may have been mistakingly recorded as Monmouthshire, Wales in many, many references.

In Reply to: Sylvester Robbins/ Scott Co., IN/ 1859 by Donna Forney Clark of 4099
My information on Sylvester (Robbins), albeit of uncertain documentation, is that he was the son of William Martin Robbins and Nancy Chasteen. William Martin (1821-aft. 1880) was the son of Richard Robbins Jr. (c1790-betw. 1850/1858) and Rebecca Chastain. Richard Jr. was the son of Richard Robbins Sr. (c. 1760 in Guilford (now Randolph) Co., NC d. after 1814 in Kentucky) and Catherine or Mary [--?--]. Rebecca Chastain was the daughter of Valentine Chastain (c1768-1843) and Mary Robbins (c1774-1844) - this Mary was the daughter of Jacob and Mary [--?--] Robbins. Richard Sr. may have been (documentation is lacking here), the son of Nathaniel and Ann Robbins.
Rebecca Chastain, b. abt 1795, was the daughter of Valentine Chastain and Mary Robbins.
