Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery under direction of Hixson. Mrs. Gill, 92, died Friday, July 9, 1999, in her residence. She was a native of Vincent Settlement and a longtime resident of Cole Central Community. She was a retired lunchroom attendant at Sugartown High School and East Beauregard High School. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church for 75 years where she held many teaching positions. She was a charter member of Friendship Chapter #210 Eastern Star in Sugartown and a member of Southwest Louisiana Day Lily Club. [Survivors and pallbearers OMITTED] An Eastern Star service will begin at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Friends may call from 1-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and from 2 p.m. until time of services in the church.

3. After MARTHA CHANDLER HUGHES died, her husband RICHARD C. HUGHES remarried in 1852 to ELIZ. M. ALLEN daughter of WILLIAM ALLEN who fought in the American Revolutionary War.

WILLIAM ALLEN was born about 1749 Albemarle Co., VA (he was born in that portion of Abermarle Co. which was first a part of Amherst Co., and then was a part of Nelson Co.,) [From http://www.countyofamherst.com/ In 1761, Amherst County was formed from the southern half of Albemarle County. In 1807, Amherst County assumed its present proportions when Nelson County was formed from its northern half.]
