Although I found no documentation on any of the following, in searching to see how many children and wives that Woodson Jordan had and which children belonged to which wife, I found:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wvkanawh/FamilyData/derrick.html
Marieda Derrick Edens posted:
"Nancy Derrick b1814 d-after 1853 WI. m-ab 1843 Woodson Jordan"
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~maudenna/f2288.htm
Woodson Jordan and Anna had a son Wesley Vinton Jordan
Family in 1840 consisting of 5 sons, 2 daughters, first wife Anna
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3082686&id=I602427193
Here Wesley Vinton Woodson is listed as the son of Anna.
http://genforum.genealogy.com/jordan/messages/7593.html
This makes sense, although there's no documentation given: Here Janet Koch says Woodson Jordan had 3 wives: Jemima, Anna, & Nancy.
http://genforum.genealogy.com/jordan/messages/7594.html
Here again, Janet Koch states that Wesley Vinson Jordan is the son of Woodson Jordan and Anna.
"Wesley Vinton is the son of Woodson Jordan b. 12-27-1772 and his second wife Anna?.
http://genforum.genealogy.com/jordan/messages/5050.html
Here again, Janet Koch gives info about 3 wives and the migration of Woodson Jordan.
"Woodson Jordan got around alot from Va. to Ky, to Va, into W.V., and had three wives, and lots of kids, which is why his dad William (Harrison) Jordan had already given him his inheritance long before he passed away."
Donna Forney Clark: So if I were looking at the above data cold, with no documentation, I would start by working with these possible trees, remembering that everything here is a supposition on my part.

Because Mary Frances "Fannie" McCombs Newton Bond Toney's biological family were the McCombs, and the family who raised her, but did not actually adopt her, were the Newtons, I have left Mary Frances McCombs Newton as her maiden name out of respect for both families. See Gayle Cooper's reference and Patti Jones' reference following this explanation.
*******

Gayle Cooper:
Concerning Mary Frances "Fannie" McCombs Newton Bond Toney's name:
"There is a note in Fannie's father's profile [at http://www.forneyclarkgenealogy.com/ ) that states her children referred to her maiden name as Newton. I found a note in Ancestry that indicates her mother died in childbirth when Fannie and her twin were born. Her father then had 8 children to take care of and adopted [see following reference] some out. In the 1870 census in Colusa [CA] it shows twins Mary F. and Benjamin as 1 year old's belonging to Calvin Newton's family. I think that this is the link between the McComb-Newton name. The twins were adopted out [see following reference] to Calvin Newton and wife and were so named after that."

Source:
Patti Jones:
"... Mary Frances McCombs Newton Bond Toney was, as far as I can tell, never "adopted" by the Newtons. The Newtons took her and her twin brother in shortly after their mother died from complications due to their birth. There were 8 other children in the family, and her father wasn't able to care for them as newborns. Mary eventually went back to her birth name of Bond whereas her brother did not and stayed with the last name of Newton. So that is why you can find her with the name of Newton and Bond on geneology and government documents."

CAREY TONEY RECOUNTS TALES OF WAR HISTORY AT AGE OF 101:
Editor's Note - This is the second of two articles concerning Carey Toney and his desendants.
In July 1858, the editor of the Eaton (Ohio) Democrat was visiting in the western part of Preble county and met Carey Toney, who then was almost 101 years of age. The editor, L.G. Gould, interviewed Mr. Toney and published an article in his paper on July 22, 1858.
The text of that interview follows:
While in the western part of our county on Friday last, we had the pleasure of conversation with an aged gentleman, whom we think we are quite sure in recording, as perhaps, the last surviving hero of the celebrated siege of Yorktown.
One by one have fallen the patriots and warriors of the early days of our republic, and mingled with their mother earth, whilst he alone of all that mighty host is left to tell us, as an eye witness, of the fearful struggles, sanguinary conflicts, patriotism and devotion, that characterized and produced our national existance.
Carey Toney, the subject of this notice, was born in Buckingham County, Va., on the third of October, 1757, and will therefore be on the third day of October, 1858 101 years of age. He joined the American army in the revolution; passed through several campaigns; was present and took an active part in the siege of Yorktown; was an eye witness to the surrender of Lord Cornwallis in 1781; saw General Washington and Lafayette a great number of times during the siege; recollects and describes the personal appearance of Lord Cornwallis, his staff, etc.
On the tenth day of August, 1782, he was married to Miss. Elizabeth Doren of Bedford county, Va. in which county she was born on the fourth of July, 1761. Mr. Toney continued to reside in the state of Virginia until the year 1819, at which time he emigrated to the Township of Dixson in this county (Preble), where he has lived ever since.
In the year 1820, himself and wife, united themselves to the Christian church, and have continued exemplary and pious members of the same to the present day. They have lived happily and pleasantly together as husband and wife for the period of 76 years - had 10 children, nine sons and one daughter - and now living 60 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Toney is now in her ninety-seventh year, walks glibly about the house and retains her memory remarkably well; and in her general deportment seems to be spright and happy, and to all appearances enjoys the green old age of her life with a good deal of gest and contentment.
Father of Country
Truly, this is a case wherein it may be said without fiction, "Here is a father and mother of our country".
Mr. Toney is a man something over 6 feet in height, and has weighed well over 200 pounds - straight and well proportioned with a physical constitution sufficiently powerful to resist and overcome almost everything, excepting the ravages of time. He has been sick but little during his long and eventful life, which may perhaps, account to some extent, for his great retention of memory.
His sense of hearing, however, for the past few years has been giving away to some extent, which renders conversation with him somewhat difficult. But on comparing his statements of revolutionary incidents with authentic history of the times, we are satisfied with his memory in the main is unimpaired and his statements correct.
He has voted at all the presidential elections from the beginning of the republic to the present day, a thing which we much doubt no other man in America can boast as having done. He informed us he had voted for the following persons for president of the United States to-wit: George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, James Madison, John Q. Adams, Andrew Jackson, William H. Harrison, Henrey Clay, ZacharyTaylor, Franklin Pierce, and J. C. Fremont.
He has had naturally a strong and sagacious mind with an inflexible will, added to great powers of execution, but like many others in the early days of this country, he was deprived of a proper and effficient literary education. We conversed with him considerably in relation to the times, etc. of his youth and his memory upon all these points seemed to be vivid and fresh.
Conversed With Washington
He stated he had seen and conversed with General George Washington at various times - described his dress, personal appearance, etc. - that he was a large man, rather rough featured, etc., but that he was the most kind and noble hearted man he ever knew. He spoke also of seeing at Yorktown and other places a number of other officers and men whose names are familiar in the history of our country.
And among other things related the circumstances, well known in the history of the Revolution, of Washington causing letters to be written just prior to the capture of Lord Cornwallis, pretending they were for General Greene, and allowing them, as if by accident, to fall into thehands of the commander of the British troops in New York, who thereupon became so much alarmed at their contents, that he immediately commenced fortifying the city, expecting an attack from General Washington, that Washington, taking advantage of Clinton's perplexity, put off south with his army with all possible speed dispatch, to assist in the capture of Cornwallis, that Clinton did not learn his mistake until Washington had been gone about eight days and until it was entirely too late to render Cornwallis any assistance.
The old gentleman seemed to enjoy the maneuver with infinite relish, and spoke of it as being thought at that time, by General Washington, a very brilliant stoke of military genius. He is now in the enjoyment of tolerable good health, and last fall walked five miles to visit his daughter.
Pen-Inspiring
Taking it all in all, we think this is the most remarkable couple now living in the state of Ohio, or in the United States of America. The long interesting life of Mr. Toney furnished a fitting theme from which a penmight draw an infinite number of interesting and soul-stirring conclusions.
But a mere publication of the facts in the case is all we feel able or competent to do, leaving to our readers the task of framing the conclusions, as to their own minds shall appear most proper and correct.Yet whilst sitting by his side, and attentively listening to his narrative of the circumstances and events of ancient days was resurrected and giving to us as our eye witness, a faithful narrative of times and circumstances which hereto we had existed only in history and song.
For one moment, in order to better view the subject, roll back for 100 years the enormous tide of civilization with all its concomtant adjuncts that has had and does now crown and embellish our country, and you see him a little boy, a native born subject of the king of Great Britain, living in one of his colonies in the wild woods of America, owing his protection, pease and security, civilly, to the British crown, no one had yet dreamed of the mighty government, varied laws, and the multiplied thousands of institutions that now assign to us so honorable a position in the ranks of nations - a few more years, and you find him at risk of his life, reputation and fortune, actively engaged in the great struggle of independence, which is forever to tear him away from his mother country, and give him freedom or to fetter her for all time to come in endless slavery.
His effort is successful, and after a long and bloody war his country is declared free - he beats his sword into a plough-share and retires fromthe dripping fields of Yorktown into the shades of quite and peaceful life with a new name, a new country, and civilly speaking, a new condition in life. He has seen take place with his own eye, the identical incidents that have exhaused the descriptive powers of a thousand writers.
He has seen America when she contained but 13 colonies and 3,000,000 human beings. He saw America when her civilization and improvements was confined entirely to our eastern seaboard and he now sees her with hergiant arms of civilization, improvement, and refinedment, extending from ocean to ocean, and her cities and villages crowning every hill in the world.
Saw Birth of Nation
He has seen America with his own eye in every stage of her existence; from her infancy to her majority and in the language of the immortal Webster, "he still lives." Who then but will say, that his life has been an eventful one and a fit subject for serious contemplation. But he is fast passing down the uncertain current of time, and he will be gathered to his fathers. May his latter days be as peaceful and happy as his former ones have been many and glorious - And
"When all his troubles on earth are o'er,
And death at last shall bid him,
Let the lashing waves of the ocean roar
A patriot's gone home."

Both Emmaline Kinney and Viola Kinney are listed in some of the references below as children of William Kinney and Mary Jane Rice. I listed Emmaline Kinney as a child of William Kinney and Mary Jane Rice because the reference immediately below states that she appears in the 1870 US Census.

*Note that this Harriet is not the same as the Harriet b. 1864, sister of Emma although they lived in the same home at the time of the 1880 Census. The older Harriet b. 1864 is listed as "sister" refering to the household head, Wm. H. Boardingham, Sr. Therefore Harriet (the older) was living with her brother and sister-in-law perhaps because her parents were dead or to help with the children. Also, George does not appear on the 1880 Census although he is listed as a brother in the 1908 obit of Wm. H. Boardingham, Jr.

An inconsistency:
1. The Skeels Family History (1720-1980) has an estimated birth of both William Skeels I and Anna Unknown Skeels as 1720 which would have made both parents in their 50's and 60's at the births of some of their children.
Two unsubstantiated statements:
2. In the Skeels Family History 1720-1980, Roof states that he has gleaned " that William Skeels, the First, was drafted into the English army to come to America to fight the struggling colonists during the Revolutionary War. When he arrived, and as soon as an opportunity offered, he deserted the English and joined the army of [General] Washington; and afterward helped to fight the battles of the Revolution for the achievement of the freedom we now enjoy." Roof also states that William Skeels and Anna Unknown Skeels were married before emigrating to this America. Both the army and marriage statements have not been substantiated.

William Sheele, age 18, was convicted of grand larcency at Old Bailey, on February 18th, 1767, for stealing a silk cloak, called a cardinal, valued at 12 shillings. At the time, 9 shillings was a week's salary for an unskilled laborer. William Sheele sold the cloak for 2 shillings. (Two shillings was the weekly rent of a furnished room for a tradesman. Two shillings could buy 2 pounds of Parmesan cheese or two dinners in a steak house.) William was described by defense witnesses as industrious, honest, careful, and civil. His punishment for grand larceny was Transportation to America.

I went with him to Clerkenwell, there we searched a room where was two girls; Mary Parsons the evidence was one of them, we found a bundle; I untied it, and in it found the cardinal; we asked Parsons where she had it; she said she did not know any thing about it; at last she said one William Skeele brought it there; that his partner, William Martin and he, set it at 4 s. and she gave 2 s. for it; I went home and fetched the young woman that made the croak. she said it was my property; after that we took the prisoner, the other ran down stairs, but was stopt and brought back; the prisoner said he found the cardinal in Barbican, or something like it; we took them both to Bridewell that night, and before the Justice the next day, there they both said they found it.
Mary Baldwin . This cardinal (holding one in her hand) is Mr. James's property, I made it; I was setting in the parlour with Mrs. James, at the time a pane of glass was broke in the shop window, on the 29th of January; we went out to see what was the matter, but could see nobody; then we went to see if any thing was lost, and missed nothing; but the next morning the uncle to one of the boys came, he asked if we had lost any thing; we said no; then he asked if we had lost a black silk cardinal; then we looked and missed it; then he said to Mr. James, if you will promise to prosecute, I can help you to it; he said, he had just saved his kinsman from being concerned with the other two; Mr. James went with him, and he came back about twelve, and said, I must go and look at a cloak that they had found, and see if I knew it. I went with him to Red-bull-yard, St. John's-street, there were two girls that they kept; one of them is called Martin's wife; I saw the cardinal, and proved it to be Mr. James's property: while we were talking about it, we heard somebody coming up stairs; Mr. Clark said they are coming, put the door too; they came up, the prisoner was first apprehended; Martin ran down stairs, but was soon apprehended and brought up: they were taken before Justice Girdler, he admitted the girl an evidence.
Mary Parsons . I lodge with William Skeele and William Martin: they brought a black silk cardinal in one night, tied up in a red handkerchief, and said they found it; Martin gave Skeele 2 s for his part, and gave the cardinal to me.
William Dickerson . I was with Martin and Skeele on the 29th of January; I was to have broke the window, only my aunt came by and catched me; we were all of us together in a room after that, and I asked them if they had got the cardinal, and they said they had.
Prisoner's defence.
We found the cardinal in Barbican; Martin gave me 2 s. for it, and gave it to Mary Parsons .
Q. to Baldwin. Where was the cardinal taken from?
Mary Baldwin. It was taken from off a line on the inside the window, just by the broken pans.
To his character.
Mrs. Cooper. I live at the Peacock in Whitecross-street; I have known the prisoner from his birth, I never heard a bad character of him till now.
John Dosset . I am a shoemaker, and live in Seacoal-lane; I have known him ever since he was born, he is an industrious honest lad as ever I knew, and can get a great deal of money at his business, he works with his father.
Q. How old is he?
Dosset. He is eighteen years of age.
Roger Tippet . I have known him about nine years, he was always a very careful lad, and behaved very honest and civil.
Elizabeth Cox . I go out a ironing; I have known the prisoner seven or eight years or upwards, I never heard no ill of him in my life.
Mary Cook . I have known him seven or eight years, I never knew any thing amiss of him.
Guilty . T .
See Dickerson (or properly Dickson) an evidence against Martin, No 146. in the first part."

Family Legends and Myths
by Sharon DeBartolo Carmack, CG:
This excerpt tells of some naturally evolving myths in family histories:
"Watching Out for Red Flags"
" Many families have cherished myths and stories about their immigration to America or other pivotal events and people. Sharon DeBartolo Carmack shows you how to determine which family legends are true, and what to do if you prove one false.
"Great-grandma was a Cherokee Indian princess, you know." At the family reunion or while interviewing relatives, you might hear family stories like this or other lore about your forebears. Nearly everyone has a story that has been handed down about their ancestors. Some of these legends may be quite factual; others are myth. Almost all family stories have some grain of truth, however. Family legends aren't usually created out of thin air, and that tiny grain of truth may be the clue that leads you to genealogical success. There are many myths that have worked their way into family stories, and perhaps you've already heard some of these. Often, they are about ethnic origins or how the family came to America. If you haven't heard any of these common legends yet, make yourself aware of some of the most common ones, since you may eventually hear variations as you talk with family members.
[1.]The Cherokee Indian Princess Myth
It's always a Cherokee princess, almost never Navajo or Apache or Pueblo or Lumbee. Native American ancestry is an extremely common family story, and it seems it is always to an Indian princess. The Cherokee, of course, are a large tribe with a diverse culture, divided by the Trail of Tears. They intermarried widely, perhaps increasing the likelihood of Cherokee/white ancestry.
One reason this princess myth may have evolved is prejudice. For those who frowned upon a white male ancestor marrying an Indian woman, elevating the woman's status to princess made the truth easier to swallow. Keep in mind that any story that says you have Native American ancestry — often Cherokee — may in itself be a myth. Even though it's currently an "in" thing to have Native American ancestry, just a few decades ago, it might have been the skeleton in your family's closet. Proving certain ethnic ancestry can be difficult because of prejudice or popularity toward a culture at any given time. Throughout history, some people who were victims of prejudice may have tried to hide their native origins by changing their name or claiming a different ethnicity.
[2.]The Three Brothers Myth
It's always three brothers who immigrated to America, never two or four or five or six. Sometimes one is lost at sea during the voyage over, or one went north, one went south, and one headed west, never to be heard from again. There are never any sisters involved in the big move across the ocean. Be wary of the brothers myth, and always keep an eye out for additional siblings both in America and once you start foreign research. You also want to confirm through your research that there were, in fact, three brothers, that the three brothers were indeed brothers and not two brothers and an uncle, for example, or that the three brothers weren't just three men with the same last name.
[3.]The Stowaway Myth
For some reason, it is so much more romantic to have an ancestor who came to America as a stowaway rather than a paying passenger. While there are cases of people who actually did sneak aboard ships, this was not common practice. If the stowaway was discovered enroute, typically, he will be recorded on the last page of the passenger arrival list. I deliberately use "he" because you almost never hear a story about great-grandma being a stowaway. Even if you have the family story of a stowaway, still check for a passenger arrival list, since if he was discovered and recorded on the passenger list, he'll likely be on the index, too.
[4.]The Claim-to-Fame Myth
Everyone who has the surname Bradford or Alden is related to William Bradford and John Alden of Mayflower fame, right? And everyone with the last name of Boone is related to Daniel. And if your last name is James, you're related to Jesse, of course. If you do have Native American ancestry, then you must be descended from Pocahontas. Is that a red flag I see flying? We all want a famous person to hang on our family tree, but we may not find that person. I'm supposedly related to Robert E. Lee. My research revealed that I really am. He's something like a ninth cousin, twenty times removed.
[5.]The Wrong Ethnic Identity Myth
All Germans are Hessians who fought in the American Revolution. All French are Huguenots. All Hispanics are Mexican. Of course, none of these broad statements is true. We tend to lump certain groups of people incorrectly into one category. "German" is not a distinct enough identifier in genealogy any more than "Indian" or "Hispanic." If family stories indicate that your ancestors were German or from Germany, were they Germans from Imperial Germany, Alsatians, Austrians, Swiss, Luxembourgers, Germans from Russia, or Poles from Germany? Even the records you uncover may not tell you more than "Germany." This is why it is so important to learn the unique cultural traits — customs, traditions, folkways — about the ethnic group.
Names, too, may be inaccurate indicators of ethnic identity. Just because the name sounds Italian, is it? The name you are accustomed to may have been changed or inadvertently corrupted over time, obscuring its ethnic origins.
[6.]The Ellis Island Baptism Myth
This is the myth that an immigrant ancestor's surname was changed by officials during processing at Ellis Island. No evidence whatsoever exists to suggest this ever occurred. During its operation as an immigrant receiving station (1892-1954), Ellis Island was staffed with hundreds of interpreters who spoke more than thirty different languages. Inspectors compared the names the immigrants told them against what was recorded on the passenger lists. These lists were created at the ports of departure. There was no reason to record or change anyone's surname once they arrived on the island. More likely, immigrants themselves changed their names after they settled in America to avoid prejudice and to blend more easily into American society.
Handling the Myth in Research and Writing
Now that I've shattered your favorite family story, how do you tell Grandpa? Or should you? And how do you handle ancient family legends that you've discovered through your research are false? Family legends are part of your family history and should never be ignored or taken lightly. As mentioned earlier, there is usually a kernel of truth to the family story. Rather than bursting Grandpa's bubble with the facts, try to find out how the story originated. When you write your family history, include the family story as it was told to you, noting it as family "tradition" or "lore" or "legend." Then explain, if you can, how the story originated, followed by a discussion of your research findings. You may reveal that some elements of a story were true and some were false, or that a story was totally false. Even if you have not been able to prove or disprove the story, acknowledge the lore and say it has yet to be proven. These family stories give color to your family history, so record and share them as what they are."

Sylvester Robbins was buried at Scaffolk Lick Cemetery in Scott, IN. He was a blacksmith.
I heard this story on several occasions while growing up:
The day he married Emma Tish Belch, Sylvester Robbins went to a grocery store and won a butter dish. When he brought it home to his new wife, he told her it was his wedding gift to her. She thought that was very funny.
When I was talking with another Hoosier who was vacationing in FL in 2002, she told me a strikingly similar story about her family. The above story may be a regional story, or who can tell, there may have been a lot of weddings in IN where free butter dishes figured into the wedding day.

My information on Sylvester (Robbins), albeit of uncertain documentation, is that he was the son of William Martin Robbins and Nancy Chasteen. William Martin (1821-aft. 1880) was the son of Richard Robbins Jr. (c1790-betw. 1850/1858) and Rebecca Chastain. Richard Jr. was the son of Richard Robbins Sr. (c. 1760 in Guilford (now Randolph) Co., NC d. after 1814 in Kentucky) and Catherine or Mary [--?--]. Rebecca Chastain was the daughter of Valentine Chastain (c1768-1843) and Mary Robbins (c1774-1844) - this Mary was the daughter of Jacob and Mary [--?--] Robbins. Richard Sr. may have been (documentation is lacking here), the son of Nathaniel and Ann Robbins.

"History of the Frank Family," a brief family document, compiled by Grayce Stambaugh:
"The family of Nickloes Frank lived in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, during the years of 1830-1840. Mrs Frank's Father was (?) Rader [ROEDER]. They owned a great deal of land which was very valuable.
Nickloes Frank (surnames unknown) had five children born to them -- Margaret, Peter, Adam, Eva Catherine and Elizabeth. They owned and operated a Hotel or Inn in Hesse Darmstadt.
Early in life death took the father and the mother remarried. In order to avoid conscription of her sons into the German Army, the family came to America. That would have been about 1851. Margaret was 16 years old, Peter was 14 years old, Adam 11 years, Eva Catherine about 8 years and Elizabeth about 6 years old. They also brought two neighbor boys with them. The voyage in a sailboat took six weeks.
From New York they went to Pennsylvania and took up residence at Chambersburg. Not many years afterward the mother died leaving the five children with their step-father. The mother is buried in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Chambersburg. A short time later the stepfather remarried and to them a son was born -- Henry Keil. In due course the Keils decided to move to Iowa. They wanted to take the youngest, Elizabeth, with them but the sisters and brothers would not hear to it and managed to keep all five together in Chambersburg. [Sentence omitted.]"
"The Civil War came along and Adam enlisted. Eva Catherine stayed with a family by the name of Frondoe who were very good to her. She attended the Lutheran Church. It was there that she met her future husband, Wilhelm F. Schmidt. He also served in the Union Army. They were married on a Sunday evening at the parsonage of the First Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rhodes, Pastor. They went to housekeeping in Chambersburg and in 1875 moved to Indiana. Here they built a home and reared their famly.
Adam Frank enlisted on February 5, 1864 and was mustered in at Pottsville, Pa. He served under Captain Frank D. Wetherill's Company F. 3rd Regiment Pa. Vol. Cavalry under the command of Col. J. B. Remarks of Ditmar Frank 15.Oct. 2012, Trebur,Gross-Gerau,Hessen,Germany.
1. Anna Elisabetha had not married with her maiden name Röder but with her former married surname Frank.
2. Also, it's now clear that the emigration date of the Frank children, together with their mother and stepfather Johannes Keil, was after the marriage date 26 June 1853.

+ 55 ii. Martin Chastain, born Abt. 1795 in Franklin Co., Virginia, USA; died September 17, 1845 in Scott Co., Indiana.

Frances is marked as dead in Church Book ending January 1845.
57 iv. Harmon Chastain, born Abt. 1798 in Franklin County, Virginia; died Abt. 1877 in Scott County, Indiana.
58 v. Daughter Chastain, born Bet. 1800 - 1805.
Probably born circa 1800 to 1805. Tradition in Scott County says that Valentine Chastain had a daughter named Sarah Jane. This is probably Sary Shasteen who died in 1847 and is buried at Scaffold Lick, near the road in what seems to be a grave for for a fully grown person.
59 vi. Elizabeth Chastain, born Abt. 1801 in Virginia; died November 20, 1878 in Scott County, Indiana, USA. She married Nathaniel Robbins November 19, 1826; died 1874. He was Church Clerk at Scaffold Lick from July 1830 to March 1847.
60 vii. Mary Chastain, born Abt. 1806 in Kentucky, USA; died Abt. 1838 in Scott County, Indiana, USA. She married Nathaniel Chastain March 16, 1825.
Valentine Chastain performed the marriage between Mary and Nathaniel.. Nathaniel Chastain was probably a son of John and Anner Chastain despite being being listed as an heir of Valentine in 1847. This is based partly on the fact that Anner Chastain was living with Nathaniel in 1850. He is probably named as an heir of Valentine for the estate rights of his children by Mary.
+ 61 viii. Valentine Jr. Chastain, born April 03, 1808 in Shelby County, Kentucky; died Abt. 1866 in Scott County, Indiana, USA.

Note: MBG: "Mary Margaret, oldest daughter of Samuel II and Mary Jane McElwee, was of great business ability and foreseeing. I owe it to her that I was able to get the names of Samuel II children. She had put them all down in the family Bible, the original pages in her handwriting, which I have in my possession. She married Poindexter Toney when she was 44 years old and had lived at home with her father and took care of him after her mother died. At the time of her marriage, she had accumulated cattle, sheep, geese, furniture and money. I think she was the typical and perfect Scotch [sic] lady any true Scotsman would be very proud of. Mary Margaret and Poindexter lived with his son John E. Toney in their old age until they died.

SOME EARLY ROBBINS GENERATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES:
July 5, 2005: "The information in this posting has been excerpted from the ROBBINS JOURNAL, Vol. I, No. 1, July 1989, pp. 1 - 5. The Journal was edited by Kevin K. Mittge, a Robbins family historian, archivist, librarian, and published genealogist. The Journal is now defunct."
Donna Forney Clark: At this point, I have included only part of the previous posting of this excerpted article.
Within this article
"Introduction To The Robbins Family History, by Kevin K. Mittge.
Kevin K. Mittge writes:
“I am grateful for information provided by Marvin Robbins, Ocala, FL; Mary Kate Horner, Lebanon, IN; and Margaret Davis, Yakima, WA; and many others who have worked and are still working on this topic.”
Kevin writes that the following information has been suggested.
(There are several paragraphs between Kevin’s acknowledgments and the following information.)
Jacob Robbins (I) was born about 1738 and it is suggested he died about 1830 in Jennings Co., Indiana. He married to Mary, who was possibly of the Wells family. Jacob and Mary are believed to be the parents of William, Absalom, Jacob (II), James, Mary, Martha (called Massey), and Margaret.
Absalom Robbins, the second son of Jacob and Mary, was married to Mary Ogle shortly after arriving in Virginia.

James Jarvis Robbins is the son of David Ashley Robbins. Currently (12-4-2010), there is research being done considering a possible link of David Ashley Robbins, son of Mary C. Robbins Furguson (or Ferguson), with Jacob II "Big Toe Jake" Robbins & Nancy Hanks (1785-1814). "David Ashley Robbins was adopted by Sylvester Furguson who married David's mother Mary C. Robbins (who died before 1836), in Oldham Co., KY. (Sylvester then married Sarah Clark and had seven more children in IN.) Mary may be the daughter of Jake and Nancy (Hanks) Robbins."
"David Ashley Robbins was born in Oldham Co., KY, January 6, 1815. He was married in Jennings Co., IN, February 8, 1838 to Mary Ann Roberts. Later moved to Putnam Co., MO, where he died March 10 1875."
