Burial place [Section N in Cedar Grove Cem., Franklin Co., PA]
In the Kittochtinny Historical Society Cemetery Books, two Peter Franks are listed: one in the (New Hope Emanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery) in Upper Strasburg; the other in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Chambersburg. In Upper Strasburg the cemetery records says Peter died in November of 1897. The Cedar Grove records says he lived 1839-1897. Also buried at Cedar Grove is wife Francis E. Morrow 1859-1931, daughter Sarah E. Frank 1891-1913, and son James O. Frank 1883-1965. In the society's card file there is a card mentioning that Peter's obituary was in the Chambersburg Daily News on 5 November 1897. The card mentions that he is survived by a wife and six children. Interment in Upper Strasburg.

Donna Forney Clark:
Dave Clark and I saw both headstones mentioned above when we were in PA in 2005. It is possible that the inscription on Peter Frank's Cedar Grove Cem. headstone was only a record of his death and relationship to Frances E. Morrow Frank, and it is also possible that his body was moved from the Emanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Upper Strasburg to the Cedar Grove Cem., Chambersburg, Franklin Co., PA.

"Dad was born in August, 1902. He was the son of Robert Peal and Emma Hudson Gillispie and brother to Murl Bradford Gillispie.
He lived most of his life in Alum Creek, WV until he moved to Clarksburg, WV a few months prior to his death.
He was a hard worker and along with his wife owned a grocery store at Brounland for several years before his retirement. Prior to that, he was a carpenter at McClung & Morgan Department Store. Dad built the house I grew up in at Alum Creek. He was an excellent carpenter, a skill developed by several Gillispies in our family.
Besides gardening (he could make anything grow), he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved dogs and there was always at least one dog when I was growing up. My favorites were the two beagles, Micky and Dicky and the Irish Setter, Red.
He, along with my Mother also worked at South Charleston Naval Ordnance and Armor Plant during WWII.
He married Leetha Gertrude Childress in 1925 and they had four daughters and eleven grandchildren.

Dad would be the last person buried in the family section. The other part of the cemetery may have room for more graves, but the section that was designated for family is full."

Mr. John Toney Jr., 91 of Big Ugly, WV, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2016 at Boone Memorial Hospital at Madison, WV. He was born on July 28, 1924 at Big Ugly, WV , the son of the late John C. Toney and Martha Lucas Toney.

He was a member of Pineview Freewill Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon for many years. He served the Lord for 80 years of his 91 years here on this earth. He never met a stranger. When he met someone new, he always took the opportunity to share the word of God with them. He could stand for hours and talk about the Lord and salvation. He became a Christian at the young age of 11. In the summer, he could always be seen in his garden. He gardened for 60 years until his health no longer allowed him to garden. He hauled timber in 1948 and 1949. He served in the Korean War from 1950-1951. He married Lois Ruth Byers of Sun, WV, on September 11, 1952. In 1953 he became a bus driver, a job he loved. He quit bus driving for a while and worked 5 years at Pace and Byer Construction Company. He worked construction for a short time in Virginia and Pennsylvania and worked with a fencing crew in Wayne County before returning to driving a school bus. After 28 years of driving, he retired in 1989. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Edward Wayne Toney, brothers, Millard, Blucher, Sid, and Bill Toney, sisters, Willa Adkins, Viola Hughes, and Rebel Toney, and grandson, Edward Wayne Toney.

(SURVIVORS OMITTED)

It’s not easy to give up a loved one, no matter how prepared we may think we are but knowing him and what his life was all about is a blessing. So remember his smile, remember his laugh, remember his deep love for God, his love for his family and friends, and hopefully all will join him again someday. I am sure he will be looking for all of us.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who loved him.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, July 18, 2016 at Pineview Freewill Baptist Church at Big Ugly, WV with Rev. Ernest Neace and Oshel Bell officiating. Burial will follow at the Edward Wayne Toney Memorial Cemetery at Ranger, WV.

Friends may call from 5:30 P.M. until 9:00 P.M, Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV are in charge of the arrangements.

How We Became Southerners:
In undated notes of Mary Katherine "Kitty" Clark (1892-1976), Kitty says John MacDonell and his wife Frances (Aunt Frank) lived in Ottumwa, IA, and he raised horses. John told the story that he met a man on a train one day... they talked...and he traded his car load of horses for a rice farm in Louisisana... When he did get to visit the rice farm, he called it Heaven. He had some trouble getting his wife and family to come there to live, but they did eventually. Until then he got my mother (Kitty's mother was Catherine Anne "Katie" MacDonell Clark, 1862-1942, by then a widow) to come to help him with the house and that's how we became Southerners.
