Burial: Three-Mile Cemetery, White Oak, Boone County, West Virginia
Notes for BAYLESS COOPER, JR.:
Three-Mile Cemetery is located up White Oak Creek in Boone County, West Virginia. It is up a steep slope about 75 yards above the Creek, you really need a guide with a off-road vehicle and/or a very detailed map.
Our guide was his Great Grandson Hillard Edward Cooper. There are several Coopers buried there and his grave marker has the name spelled as BAYLESS. That alone was the strongest 'spelling' documentation we ever found. 23 Cooper descendants made that journey.
Interviews with five of his Grandchildren and nine of his Great Grandchildren, all said that the name spelled as Bayless is correct. Those family members also indicated that he was referred to as being a JUNIOR. Their wishes shall be honored with respect to ORAL FAMILY HISTORY 'as presented'.
There is one un-solved mystery >> at this Cemetery, there is a marker that reads Wilson Cooper with these vital dates, born Dec 22, 1857 and died Jul 4, 1878. There are some recorders who say that he is the son of Bayless Cooper, Jr, we cannot document that via the National Census or other records or family interviews but it is clear that those 'MARKER' vital dates would conflict with his other children's dates. We need help.
