Thelma Rose John Forney's Obituary:
Mrs Thelma J. Forney, 82, 1054 Clearview Ave., Lakeland, FL., formerly of Chambersburg, PA, died at 11 AM, Sept., 11, 1980, in the Presbyterian Nursing Home, Lakeland, FL.
Born in Chambersburg Dec. 26, 1897, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Pogue John. Her husband, Donald D. Forney, died Aug. 19, 1976.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeland, FL.
Surviving are three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two brothers: George Paul John, New York, NY, and Charles Pogue John, R.R. 1, Fayetteville, PA.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2 PM at the Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA, with the Rev. Charles M. Heaps officiating.

Thelma was the daughter of George Paul John (1873-1934) and Margaret (Pogue) John (1873-1939). She was married over 50 years to Donald Disert Forey (1891-1976).
They were married in Chambersburg, PA. They resided for more than 30 years in Washington, DC where Donald was employed by the Navy Department.
The Forneys also lived a short time in Buffalo, NY during World War II, where Mr. Forney was in charge of the US Government work at the Spencer Lens Company.
They had a son Fred Forney, Retired USN chaplain who was married to Betty and living in Tampa Florida. They have three grandchildren.
Donald and Thelma belonged to the First Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida. Their 50th Wedding Anniversary was celebrated at that church.
