      Notes for NICHOLAS SKEELS:
Nicholas Skeels - born in Maryland about 1783 (1850 Census, Tuscarawas., Co., Ohio)
His first Wife was Rebecca Scribner of Maryland. She died before 1808 leaving Nicholas with one daughter, Rebecca.
He married Elizabeth Harding in Frederick County, MD July 19, 1808. (Marriage Record)
His family resided in Ann Arundel Co., MD in 1810 (1810 Census)
The family moved with some of Herrons family plus brothers Isaac and William to Jeff Co., Ohio in 1812
Nicholas was a soldier in the War of 1812.
In 1824 land records show a Nicholas Skeels purchasing land in Jefferson Co., and Carroll Co.
Index for 1830 census shows a Nicholas Skeels residing in Warren Twp., Tuscarawas Co., Ohio.
In 1835 Nicholas successfully sued the widow and children of John Crough of Tuscarawas Co., (Bill of complaint in favor of Nicholas Skeels)
In 1843 Nicholas married Julia Wright who had two children. I assume that Elizabeth had probably died by then (Marriage Records]
In 1845 a daughter, Julia Ann Skeels, was born to Nicholas and Julia (1850 Census)
In 1850 Nicholas was living in Tuscarawas Co., with his wife, two step - children, and one daughter
We are not sure what happened to Nicholas from here.

It is possible his father William Skeels might have been born in England. It is possible that there is an earlier William who was born in England and had a son named William born in the Colonies - this is really still up in the air.

      Rebecca SKEELS married William JONES:
      Linda Unknown:
William JONES and Rebecca (SKEELS). William and Rebecca married in 1824 and had 11 children.
I believe her siblings were William and Joshua from her fathers first marriage and then Julia from his second.
Rebecca was the daughter of Nicholas and Rebecca (SCHRIVNER) SKEELS. Nicholas SKEELS (1783 MD - 1886 OH)and they were married in 1809. Nicholas then married in 1843 to Julia Ann WRIGHT.
