Obituary:
Margaret Ann Anderson, age 85, passed away Sunday, June 6th, 2010, at Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Kansas. She was born Margaret Ann Mitchell in Centerville, Iowa, on June 20, 1924, to Etta Kerby Mitchell and Elmer Ellsworth Mitchell. She was married to Robert Paul Anderson who passed away on February 17, 2009. They were married June 5, 1945, and were married 63 years at the time of Bob's passing.
Margaret graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1942. She attended nursing school at Iowa Lutheran, graduating in 1945. She served in the Cadet Nursing Corp for six months. She was assigned to Winter General Hospital in Topeka, KS while Bob was serving in the Army Air Corp as a bombardier. After Margaret and Bob were married they returned to Iowa. While Bob completed his law degree at the University of Iowa, Margaret worked as a hospital nurse and later for a private physician. In 1950 they moved to Overland Park where Bob began his law practice. Margaret was then a homemaker, dedicated volunteer, devoted wife, and loving mother.
Margaret and Bob were charter members of Brookridge Country Club. Margaret was a long time Brookridge Ladies' Bowling League member. She also volunteered for many years as a coordinator at Brookridge swim meets and as an election worker in Johnson County. Bob and Margaret loved fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks and at their lake home in Baudette, MN. They enjoyed farming at their small acreage in Centerville, KS. Margaret was an avid Kansas Jayhawk fan, holding football season tickets for over 40 years.
Margaret was a member of Johnson County Young Matrons. Through her affiliation with JCYM she was a long time volunteer at Bethany Medical Center in the surgery waiting room. She was also a member of Kansas City Delta Pi Chapter of Lambda Tau Delta social sorority. Margaret served as chapter president to PEO Chapter AV of Kansas City, Missouri, from 1987-1989; she held several other offices with her chapter.
