Mrs. Shivertaker was born February 8, 1921, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Harvey and Mida (Smith) Kuhn. She was married to James Richard Shivertaker, Sr. for 60 years prior to his death in 2001. She attended Charleston High School in Charleston, W.V. graduating in 1940. She retired from J.C. Penny's in 1974 to care for her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts, cake decorating, and was known for her quilting skills. She enjoyed traveling and being with her grandchildren.
