Robinson was born in Altoona, Pa. As a youth his family moved to Harrisburg, Pa., where he grew up in the Uptown section at 2623 North Sixth Street and graduated from Technical High School. He spent most of his adult years as a trust officer in banks in Harrisburg. He was a member of the former Trinity Presbyterian Church of Harrisburg, and upon the dissolution of that congregation, he became a member of Market Square Presbyterian Church, where he was a member until his death. He resided at 2652 North Sixth Street, Harrisburg, Pa., until he died at the Polyclinic Medical Center in Harrisburg. He was followed in death in October 1989 by his wife Virginia Goodyear Robinson. His surviving children were Michael Robinson, Rachel Elizabeth Robinson Bair, and John Knox Robinson.
