They moved from Carroll County, Missouri around 1893 settling around the Earlsboro, Indian Territory. Forrest attended and graduated from the Seminole High School, and continued his education at Ada Normal College where he took German among his other subjects. He also played football for Ada. Upon graduation he taught school for a few years. He married Nora S. Wilson on January 17, 1920 at Ada, Ponotoc County, Oklahoma. They moved to Henryetta in 1926. He was admitted to the bar in 1926 where he set up his law practice. He was a member of the Okmulgee County and Oklahoma Bar Association. After establishing his law practice he entered into politics, where he was elected to represent Okmulgee County in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He was also a member of the Masons, and VFW and American Legion. He also served as a German interpretor during and after World War I. He was also intrumental in helping found the Oklahoma Law School at the University of Oklahoma. Forrest was also a member of the Lions Club.
