On July 5, [Mrs. Ed] Hammel's sister, Mrs. O. F. Vandusen, died suddenly. She had prepared dinner and told others in the house that she would like down to rest while the others ate their dinner. She was found dead a short time later. – Le Mars Globe Post, Aug. 2, 1923, page 1.

Mrs. O. F. Van Dusen, a well-known Union township resident, living southwest of Remsen, dropped dead last Thursday noon from heart trouble while at work about her home. Mrs. Van Dusen was 64 years of age and apparently enjoying her usual health. The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home. Mrs. Van Dusen is survived by her husband and two children, a son, Frank, at home, and Mrs. Louis Kemp, of Moville.
Mrs. Van Dusen was an old time resident of the Union community and highly respected among a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. She will be greatly missed in the general community as well as in the home where she was a devoted wife and mother. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, July 12, 1923, page 1, column 2.

The funeral of F. L. Van Dusen, brother of Mrs. L. A. Kemp, of Vermillion, S.D., was held at the Fisch Funeral Home on Wednesday, with Rev. Wuebben officiating. Services started at 2 o'clock and interment was in the Union township cemetery [Remsen City cemetery]. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, March 29, 1946, page 7.

Funeral services were held here Wednesday for Frank Van Dusen, 61, former Remsen farmer who passed away Monday in a hospital at Vermillion, S. D.
Mr. Van Dusen was born February 18, 1885, on a farm near Kingsley and later farmed in Union township for many years. Leaving here in 1934 he spent two years farming near Anthon, then spent several years in various localities but in recent years made his home with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kemp at Burbank, S.D.
He suffered a paralytic attack about a year ago.
Surviving are his sister, Mrs. Kemp, two nieces and a nephew.
Services in the Fisch funeral home and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. Paul Wuebben, pastor of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, March 28, 1946, page 1, column 1
