Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 followed by a Rosary Service conducted by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Sharon was born on February 11, 1939, in Liscomb, Grundy County, Iowa to George Clifford and Henrietta (Fink) Smith and died on August 5, 2020, at the Valley View Care Center in Greene. As a young girl, her family moved to Marble Rock. She attended school and graduated from Marble Rock School in 1956. As a high school student, she met her husband Richard Frascht. They were united in marriage on February 16, 1957, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Greene. Their marriage was blessed with three boys: Tom, Francis, and Charles. Sharon loved being a farmer’s wife and all the things that went with it; helping in field, gardening, raising chickens. When she couldn’t be outside, she quilted, making quilts for each of her grandchildren, put puzzles together and played cards. She enjoyed bowling and golfing. She bowled until she qualified for the National Tournament. Sharon enjoyed having her family come for dinners. She enjoyed the preparation and the time together. She loved to bake cookies. It was always a highlight of the trips to Sharon’s when she would go to the freezer and get the cookies and the gallon ziplock bags for everyone to take cookies home. As the kids grew up, they came to appreciate her sense of humor. They also learned many things; like grandma didn’t like pigs or rhubarb. Sharon’s hobby of genealogy was a gift to her extended family. She was the family history expert and record keeper of the Smith, Fink, Frascht and Osier families. She enjoyed getting her books out and thumbing through them to answer any question about the family history. Sharon’s community service was extensive. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for over 60 years. She played the organ for Sunday Mass, many funerals and weddings and a member of the church circle. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for over 50 years. She held many positions including leadership position of District Deputy. Over the years, she also was a member of the Butler County Pork Producers and the Porkette’s board, West Side and First Responders. She and Richard were active members of Round Grove Country Club and enjoyed golfing. They shared their love of golf with their family. The family started a tradition of golfing as a group during the summer months and then going “back to the house” for lunch and sharing stories of the golf game. After their nest was empty, Sharon went to work at the lunchroom at Rockford High School. She enjoyed making relationships with the kids. She had an easy laugh and loved to tease. No doubt she also kept the students in control in the lunchroom. SURVIVORS OMITTED. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Harry and Earl; her father and Mother-in-law, Leo and Laura Frascht; brother-in-law Paul “Butch” Frascht; sisters-in-law: Florence Crabtree, Louise Wagner, Helen Hovey, and Cheryl Frascht.
