He went to Steele Elementary, Camp Curtin Junior High, and William Penn High schools. Michael was a natural athlete, playing football and baseball at William Penn High School in Harrisburg. He also was a good ice skater and swimmer. In his adult life he excelled at golf and played as often as he could. Michael also played the tuba in the high school band and orchestra. After graduation and some time working, Michael joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He and his wife, (SURVIVOR'S NAME OMITTED), loved traveling to the Colonial restoration at Williamsburg, Virginia. Michael was fond of the several dogs he and (his wife: SURVIVOR'S NAME OMITTED) raised. Michael was an advertising salesman for the Harrisburg Patriot-News Company for much of his adult life until his retirement. Always gregarious, he had many friends with whom he visited after retirement and had the gift of entering into a conversation with friend and stranger alike. In 2007 Michael had heart bypasses and a few days later died of internal bleeding, having returned home only briefly before returning to Harrisburg Hospital.
