      Nathan Miller, 40, Chambersburg, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at home after a three year battle with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis despite having received a live liver transplant from his uncle, Douglas Walter.

      Born on March 21, 1979 in Carlisle, he was the son of (SURVIVORS OMITTED).

      A 1997 graduate of Susquenita High School and Cumberland-Valley Vo-Tech, Nathan won a Bundestag scholarship to study under a German baker for a year. Upon his return to the United States, he earned a degree from the Culinary Institute of America.

      Food was his passion from an early age. Nathan worked as a chef at Jean George, Aureole, and Danube in New York City before becoming the pastry chef at The Kitchen in Boulder, Colorado. In 2010, he founded Nathan Miller Chocolate in the basement of a friend's home.In 2013, he moved his business to Chambersburg.

      A two time winner of The Good Foods Award, he was written up in the New York Times and featured in magazines and blogs such as Real Simple and Vogue. He also was invited to cook at the James Beard House in New York City for two different events. He dreamed big and encouraged others to do the same.

      SURVIVORS OMITTED.

      An informal gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 11, at 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main Street, Chambersburg, PA. Dress is casual. A celebration will take place in Colorado on May 23, 2020. All are welcome. Details to follow on his Facebook page, at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nathan's name to PSC Partners Seeking A Cure at PSCpartners.org.

      Robert C. "Red" Walter
      March 24, 1934 - September 7, 2016
      Chambersburg
      Robert C. "Red" Walter, 82, passed away on September 7, 2016, at home on what would have been his 64th wedding anniversary to Donna Eckels Walter, who preceded him in death in 2012. They were married September 7, 1952, in the First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg. Born March 24, 1934 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary John Walter. Red was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a 1952 graduate of Chambersburg High School. He was employed at Sun Oil Company and was owner/operator of Red Walter Sunoco Station and retired from the Borough of Chambersburg. Red was a longtime volunteer at Meals on Wheels at the Chambersburg Hospital, taught Sunday School, served as church treasurer, and coached many young people in baseball, basketball, and football. He loved golfing, running, and had a passion for the art of stained glass.

      Family and friends were the most important thing in Red's life. He will be remembered for his influence on many people.

      Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Pierce; and three brothers, Clarence, John and Lawrence Walter.

      Arrangements are entrusted to Sellers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 11, 2012 at Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Chambersburg from 12 until 2 PM. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2PM in the church sanctuary, where Pastor Rachel Keller-Wong will officiate. Interment will be private.

      In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Red's name to Keystone Human Services, which provides community-based support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. Donations can be sent to 170 Mill Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
