Robert C. "Red" Walter, 82, passed away on September 7, 2016, at home on what would have been his 64th wedding anniversary to Donna Eckels Walter, who preceded him in death in 2012. They were married September 7, 1952, in the First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg. Born March 24, 1934 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary John Walter. Red was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a 1952 graduate of Chambersburg High School. He was employed at Sun Oil Company and was owner/operator of Red Walter Sunoco Station and retired from the Borough of Chambersburg. Red was a longtime volunteer at Meals on Wheels at the Chambersburg Hospital, taught Sunday School, served as church treasurer, and coached many young people in baseball, basketball, and football. He loved golfing, running, and had a passion for the art of stained glass.

Family and friends were the most important thing in Red's life. He will be remembered for his influence on many people.

      SURVIVORS OMITTED.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Pierce; and three brothers, Clarence, John and Lawrence Walter.

Arrangements are entrusted to Sellers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 11, 2012 at Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Chambersburg from 12 until 2 PM. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2PM in the church sanctuary, where Pastor Rachel Keller-Wong will officiate. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Red's name to Keystone Human Services, which provides community-based support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. Donations can be sent to 170 Mill Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
