      James Townsend:
      1. Name: Thomas Jefferson Townsend (although some census records and other factors say Thomas "M" Townsend). I don't know if he intentionally changed his middle name later in life. He celebrated his birthday on November 11. Some sources give his birth date as 1852, some 1856, and some 1866.
      2. He married a Rosa or Rosetta Harrison (d. of David Harrison and Phebe Love), on 8 Jul 1889 in Boone Co. Indiana.
      3. He married a Viola M. Farwick on 9 May 1895 in Indiana - the record states it's the groom's second marriage.
      4. In 1900 (census) he is living in the house of the Kennedy brothers in Charleston, WV, working at a mill.
      5. On 24 Dec 1900 he marries Lena ("Lennie") Dodson (d. of A.J. Dodson and Margarett) in Charleston, WV.
      6. He moved to WV in 1900, looks like, and lived on some property in Davis Creek WV that I believe was handed down through the Dodson line
      7. Tom named his son James Monroe, I believe after his brother who died in the Civil War of the same name.
      8. Tom and Lena Townsend had two children: James Monroe & Nellie Townsend.
      9. Tom died on June 2, 1936.
      10. Thomas J. Townsend's obituary appeared in the Charleston Gazette (WV) on Wednesday, June 3, 1936. It mentioned Tom's death being the day before at his home on Davis Creek, WV; his age at death as 82; the survivors as being his widow Mrs. Lennie Townsend, one daughter Nellie Townsend of Davis Creek, and a sister Allie Harding of Indiana.
      11. Thomas J. Townsend's burial: Songer Cem.,Davis Creek, WV.

Concerning Tom Townsend's child with Rosa Harrison:
Her name was Lucella M Townsend, and she married a Fredrick R. Childers on 5 May 1908 in Marion, Boone, Indiana. They had at least one child, Clark Lawson Childers, 1908 to 1981. Lucella died in 1912.
