Mittge Date: January 11, 2001 at 21:36:22 In Reply to: VALENTINE ROBBINS IN WASHINGTON CO, IN. by Marie Bayles of 3206 The parents of Valentine Robbins (1813-1849) were reportedly Richard Robbins (c1790-betw. 1850-58) and Rebecca ("Betsy") Chastain (c1794-c1871). Richard, in turn, was the son of Richard and Catherine Robbins, and Richard (Sr.) is said to be the son of Nathaniel and Ann Robbins. Little is documented so far. Nathaniel was born c1740, prob. in Monmouthshire, Wales and died c1800, prob. in Shelby Co., Kentucky. He came as a child with his family to the Rowan/Guilford/Randolph Co., North Carolina area; moved to the Franklin & Montgomery Co., Virginia area, and then on to Shelby Co., Kentucky. Other Robbins lived in Henry Co., Kentucky; many went on to Decatur, Jennings, Scott, and Washington counties, Indiana. Nathaniel, by the way, was a brother of Jacob Robbins, who married Mary (said to be Wells, but, again, unproven). ******** Source: Reprinted by permission.
