He died May 22, 1938 at the age of 90 years, one month and 11 days. When he was 14 his family came as pioneers to Noble County. He has made his home here ever since. For several years he taught in various schools of the county. On Sept. 15, 1872 he married Sarah Jane Nicodemus who died Jan. 20, 1916. They had 8 children, one of whom died in infancy and another at the age of 4. Two sons, Lawrence L. and John D., died in 1933. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leona M. Holcomb of York Twp; and 3 sons, Frank A., William E., and Charles H., all of Noble Twp.; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Addis of Green Twp; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He joined the Baptist Church of Wolf Lake by letter in 1905 and was named an honorary deacon in appreciation of many years of service. + 5-?-1938
