ELMER JOHN FORNEY (John Martin Forney) was born 1871 in Pennsylvania. His second marriage was to Katherine E. Green abt. 1907, daughter of James Henry Green and Carrie Shaffer Green. She was born 25, Nov. 1886 in Cordova, Cordova Township, Rock Island County, Illinois, and died in 1948 and is buried in Cordova Cemetery, Rock Island County, Cordova, Illinois.
Elmer's name appears as a list of clammers along with his father-in-law James Green in a Cordova Anniversary book. It further states, "In about 1897, nearly all able bodied men who were not afraid of the river, and who did not have a job, clammed."
