Probate documents for father's will show family name is definitely Hetherington, but Myrick Javan signs as "Hethington".
Per M. E. Searson's mother, Myrick Javan changed the spelling to eliminate having to write or say the extra syllable. He was a lumberman like his father and helped work his son-in-law's rented farm in later life.
