Name: George ROBBINS
Sex: M
Birth: 1792 in Franklin County, Virginia
Death: 12 Sep 1887 in Decatur, Indiana
Fact 1: Buried in Burks Chapel Cem, Decatur, IN
Note:
According to W.F. Robbins, George was a "man of education" and taught school. He settled in Decatur County, IN in 1830 on 80 acres of land west of Whipple Bridge across Sand Creek. When he was older he lived with his daughter Lucinda (Robbins) Caldwell.
HISTORY OF THE ROBBINS FAMILY document notes George Robbins was born 1789 in VA. and died 9/12/1887 in Indiana. He migrated from VA to Henry County, KY with his parents about 1800. He was a man of education and taught school at one time. W.F. Robbins remembers seeing him at Harman Robbins home in Greensburg IN about 1880. He was a very old man with a long white beard. Made his home with his daughter Mrs. Lucinda Caldwell a few miles west of Greensburg. Lucinda kept house for him. It is believed his wife died before he came to Indiana. She was Nancy Pruitt, relative of John [Q)uincy Adams.
