      Joseph N. Weeth Died
This community was shocked by the announcement of the death of Joseph N. Weeth, a pioneer of this part of Nebraska, which occurred at his home some fifteen miles west of this city on Saturday of last week. Mr. Weeth had been sick from some time previous with typhoid fever and his death was not altogether unexpected.
Funeral Services were held at the Catholic Church in this city of which the deceased was a communicant on Monday conducted by the Rev. Father Cavenaugh and interment made in the Ansley Cemetery.

Joseph N. Weeth was born at Chicago, Illinois January 12, 1856. In 1858 he came with his parents to Sarpy County where he grew to manhood. He was married to Dora B. Karker at David City, May 23, 1883. In January 1886 they came to Custer County and took up a homestead at Cat creek where they have since lived. Besides the wife there survives one daughter Elizabeth, who is attending school at Broken Bow. He also leaves a mother, Mrs. Ann Weeth, and two sisters, the Misses Jane and Anna Weeth of Omeha, who were in attendance of the funeral and one sister, Mrs. B. F. Welch of Westerville.

Mr. Weeth had been a prominent democrat and had a wide acquaintance over the county. He was a member of the Modern Brotherhood of the Modern Woodmen. The family have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
