      Name: Charles Carrington Toney
Information: "Charles Carrington Toney dob 2/23/1924 was born in Oak Hill, WV. He was the s/o Roy Allen Toney and Mattie Jane Stover. Roy and Mattie divorced early in the marriage and Charles was raised by Van & Rosie Helton in Mt. Hope, WV. He went by the name Charly Helton (also spelled Hylton in some records) as a child but since he was never legally adopted, he had to change back to Toney when he joined the Navy. Apparently Roy & Mattie also had a daughter, Edna Mae Toney who may have been Charles' twin or very close in age. Edna stayed with Mattie. Roy remarried and had more children. Mattie remarried twice but I have found no record of more children. Roy Toney is s/o Frank T. Toney & Cora Wriston. Frank is s/o Jesse Toney Jr. and Adeline Williams, who is s/o Jesse Sr. and Amanda Jarrell."
