      Nancy Downing:
      Margaret Ryan married Hugh Downing, son of Hugh Downing and Mary Ann Hibbetts. Father Hugh was son of James Downing of Magnolia area. Margaret had sons, John Hall Downing, Charles Downing, Hugh Ryan Downing, and daughter Theora Downing. Margaret later married Sherrod Ricketts and had son Edward Ricketts.

      A biography of William S. Mills, Eureka, MT, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 848.
      William S. was born, 25 Jun 1855, one of the twelve children of Jonathan and Sarah (Downing) Mills. William was educated in the schools of Tuscarawas County, OH, and attended a college in Clay City, IL.
      In 1876, William married Miss Theora C. Downing, a native of Cumberland, OH, born, 1 Aug 1857, daughter of Hugh and Margaretta (Ryan) Downing. For a time they lived on the old homestead in New Cumberland, then William went to Colorado in 1880. Two years later, Theora joined him in Wyoming. In the fall of 1882, they came to Powderville, MT, later moved to Ekalaka, MT, and 1895 to the Flathead country of Montana. They kept a roadhouse on the Kootenai River to supply the needs of steamboat passengers. Later they bought a ranch of 352 acres, across the Canadian line, and engaged in the stock business.
      Mills children: Lily A. (Mrs. Joe Tetrault, Eureka, MT), Anna, and Jud.
