Dorman L. Chasteen, Jr.:
From 2019: "Description: Robert Ransom Chastain 1832-1880 (Indiana) was in Civil War. Kicked in head by mule and was addled. His wife died when--
William Clark Chasteen (1866-1934) was too young to know how to spell his name. Abducted and taken to Arkansas. One of his sons was--
William Columbus Clark Chasteen (1896-1932). One of his boys was Dorman Chasteen 1921-2009 (Army, Navy, and Marine in WWII)
I am his boy Dorman Jr. 1949 (Marine in Vietnam and Army)."

From 2018: "Robert R. Chastain's wife died while William Clark Chastain was very young. Robert was a Civil War soldier (1Lt) from Indiana. He was kicked in the head by a mule and was addled. Another family from Arkansas (Doc??) took (from a note in 2006) the boy (William Clark Chastain) before he was old enough to know how to spell his name. William later made contract with his family in Indiana after he was an adult and was spelling his name as 'Chasteen'."

Chastain, William (2-Pierre, Jr., 1-Pierre), PCD, vol. 1, page 37. Served as County Lieutenant of Second Battalion of Militia in the Revolutionary War. A record exists regarding his promotion from Ensign of Second Brigade. Possibly served earlier in the Indian War. Not listed at DAR. He died around 1790 born around 1740 so did not get listed in DAR. His son is Robert Ransom Chastain born 1770 and his son is John Chastain. His son is Robert Ransom Chastain (again) (1834 died 1884). His son is Wiliam Clark Chastain/Chasteen(suspect grandfather or ggf was Wm Clark (1866-1934)). His son was Columbus Clark Chasteen (1897-1932). His son was Dorman Chasteen, Sr. (1921-2009).

William Clark Chasteen (Donna Forney Clark: I believe this is the same man as Christopher Columbus Clark Chasteen, 1868-1934) "was a pearl fisherman and once found a black pearl of great value in one of the rivers in Arkansas. He trusted his partner to sell it and never saw him again. He ran mail for a while. He was a janitor after he hurt his back. His wife was Amanda Richey (daughter of Wm Park Richey, Lawrence Co Arkansas, at Port Hudson, (who was) captured twice in Civil War and was at Port Hudson (died 1900), son of Hamilton Richey, and g-son of Wm Richey, drummer for Jackson on way to Battle of Horseshoe Bend). William Clark Chasteen, 1868-1934) died of cancer of the jaw detected at his son's funeral. (Donna Forney Clark: I have listed William Clark Chasteen/ Christopher Clark Chasteen's son as William Columbus Chasteen, 1896-1932).
