| Lovell, Sylvanus Fern (1833-1917) & Amrilla/ Amarilla Rosina Earle (b. 1840) & Clare Lovell (b. abt. 1867) & Frank E. Lovell (1872-1954) & Fredrick Lovell (b. abt. 1869) & John Charles Lovell (b. 1864) Group photo came from the Lovell Collection by Bruce Earle Austin. Included (seated, L-R) are Sylvanus Fern Lovell & Clare Lovell & Amrilla/ Amarilla Rosina Earle Lovell. Included (standing, L-R) are Frank E. Lovell & Fredrick Lovell & John Charles Lovell.
We would like to find a connection between these members of the Sylvanus/ Sylvenus Lovell (b. 1833) family of Bruce Earle Austin and the John Lovell (b. 1833) family of Dave and Donna Forney Clark.
1. We suspect that our John Lovell (b. 1833) and Sylvanus Fern Lovell (b. 1833) are related, perhaps cousins.
2. Dumphries, Brant Co., Ontario, Canada, where John Lovell (b. 1833) came from, and Walsingham, Norfolk (South) Co., Ontario, Canada, where Sylvanus Lovell (b. 1833) lived, are adjoining counties. Also, John (b. 1833) Lovell's first son is named Sylvanus.
Additional info:
Sylvanus Fern Lovell is the son of James and Margaret Lovell (both born in England). Other children of James and Margaret Lovell are Isaac Lovell & Elizabeth "Eliza" Lovell Keeney.
James Lovell and his children Sylvanus & Isaac & Elizabeth (Eliza Anne) moved to Vergennes Twp., Kent Co., MI. Sylvanus was back in Ontario, Canada in the 1861 Canada Census and raised his family in Norfolk Co., Canada. Sylvanus’ sons John Charles & Fred & Frank & his daughter Clare went to Grand Rapids, MI, about 1900.
John Charles & Fred stayed in Grand Rapids, MI, married and raised families, but Frank & his sister Clare returned to Ontario, Canada, a couple years later.
Additional information:
Our John Lovell (b. 1833) was born in Dumfries, Ontario, Canada, then moved to Richland, Sarpy Co., NE & then to Calcasieu, LA. He married Eleanor Stewart, from Middlesex Co., Ontario, Canada, in MI, USA. Their children were Sylvanus O. "Vene" Lovell & John L. Lovell & William Edward Lovell & George J. Lovell & Archibald J. Lovell & Harvey Willard Lovell.
We would appreciate any help identifying a connection between these two families.
