Business photo of the McGrath Hotel in Chambersburg, PA, was taken prior to the hotel being run by Paul John, Sr., & Edith E. John Potter & Rose John Gable. In 1881 Paul John, Sr., bought The McGrath Hotel, which by that time had been renamed the American Hotel, located at the corner of Queen and Second Street. This he named the FRANKLIN HOUSE. In 1892 he remodeled it and named it the HOTEL JOHN.
