Coatney, George Washington (1830-1871) & Arminda Bernard Spurgeon (1839-1924)

Farm photo of the Coatney Farm which was owned by George Washington Coatney & Arminda Bernard Spurgeon Coatney came from the Don Coatney Archives. See also Don Coatney's Coatney Collection at http://www.rootsweb.com/~inscott/CoatneyPhotos.html Many of the photos in the Archives and in the Collection were taken by Benjamin Harrison Coatney (1865-1925), Don Coatney's grandfather who was a professional photographer in Perla, AR, and Indianapolis, IN. The description of the location of the Coatney Farm which follows came from a handwritten ledger by Thomas Jefferson Coatney, September 24, 1890: The Coatney farm is situated 3 1/2 miles straight east of Little York, Washington County, Indiana, and is the W 1/4 of the N E 1/4 of sec 15 town range of Findlay Township, Scott County, Indiana. (See the 1885 map which precisely locates the Coatney Farm in the DOCUMENT section of our forneyclark site under Coatney, George Washington (1830-1871) & Arminda Bernard Spurgeon (1839-1924).
